BarrierEnergy’s Inception

Michael Barriere is the proud CEO and founder of a Veteran-Owned Business, BarrierEnergy. How did he create his legacy of success? After his service, Michael re-acclimated into civilian life, working a variety of jobs and starting a family. Then, in 2009, he decided it was time to launch his own business in Santa Barbara, California. Today, his Veteran-Owned Business is still going strong and has expanded to servicing Santa Barabara, Ventura, San Luis Obispo, and Los Angeles Counties. He has not only helped to protect the legacy of his country but with his company was able to create a legacy for his family. We thank Michael and all Veterans for their service!

Michael Barriere’s Service

Enlisted in the US Army in May of 1973, Michael served in West Germany during the time of the Vietnam War. Then, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1979, while completing his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of California, Berkeley. After his graduation, he served as a Team Leader, Operations Officer, and eventually as an Executive Officer. During his active duty, the United States Army fought in Germany against the Soviet Union (USSR) during the Cold War. They won in November 1989, when the Berlin Wall fell. The USSR fell just over a year later. He completed his United States Army Reserve duty in May 1993 as a Captain.

The USSR was a communist confederation made up of 15 countries, mostly led by Russia. Communist regimes were responsible for mass killings in their confrontation against Democracy and capitalism. Socialists were responsible for tens of millions of innocent civilian deaths throughout the plight of the USSR.  According to the NY Times, estimates Joseph Stalin alone caused around 20 million deaths. Any citizens who tried to stand up to the tyranny occurring because of communism were brutally murdered in the name of “peace”. Thankfully, many brave members of the American military and other countries around the world put an end to their reign before they continued to grow.
