Happy New Year:

First and foremost, BarrierEnergy would like to say Happy Holidays to you! As you’re wrapping up your end-of-year quotas, it’s time to look ahead to 2022. Certainly, “Sustainable New Year’s Resolutions” has a double meaning. Indeed, the focus of this article is on eco-friendly habits. With more people becoming aware, this is sure to be an item on many lists. At the same time, the practical tips we will provide are easy to maintain. We are seeking to present affordable and simple ways to shake up your daily routines without breaking a sweat.

Ten Sustainable Resolutions:

1) Bamboo Toothbrushes

Next time you are ready to change out your toothbrush, give Bamboo a try. These plastic-free alternatives can save billions of harmful brushes from going into landfills. They break down naturally and clean teeth exactly the same. Additionally, certain brands of toothpaste have recyclable containers. This year, you can smile guilt-free.

2) Reusable Products

Swap out plastic bags, disposable cups, and other single-use plastics with reusable substitutes. For example, fabric shopping bags and coffee mugs can last a lifetime.

3) Eco-Friendly Cleaning

Any time a hygiene or cleaning product is used, it’s washed down the drain into the water supply. From soaps to detergents to cleaning products, the toxic waste adds up. Resolve to select brands that are free and clear with non-toxic ingredients. Seventh Generation makes EPA-approved goods that can be found in almost any store.

4) Meatless Meals

The meat industry levels forests to raise polluting livestock. So, pick one day of the week to eat vegetarian. Or, take it one step further with one vegetarian meal per day! That doesn’t mean you have to torture yourself with bland salads. Search for tasty restaurants and do some research on delicious home-cooked meals

5) Ditch Traditional Paper Products

Nowadays, most paper commodities can be made from recycled materials. Check the label on paper towels, toilet paper, and napkins.

6) Say No to Litter

Littering is a bad habit that’s so easy to kick. These days, the most overlooked perpetrators are cigarette butts, gum, and plastic bottles. Do a wildlife favor and vow to wait until you’re near a trashcan.

7) Get Involved in your Community

Attending neighborhood meetings gives you an outlet to make changes on a small scale. Tell your committee you’d like to see the budget spent on items that will improve everyone’s standard of living. Community gardens, outdoor trash cans, and signs can be used to support the environment.

8) Thrift-Shop

Instead of buying all your clothes new, see if you can check off your shopping list at thrift stores. Often, there are good quality, brand names at a fraction of the price. It’s a little-known fact that clothing usually contains petroleum and other harmful synthetics. Accordingly, look for 100% cotton or natural fiber when you do shop new.

9) Conserve Energy

Did you know wall chargers and strips can suck energy even while they are not hooked up to something? Advanced power strips are designed to shut off completely when they are not in use. Another way to conserve energy is by turning off the lights when you leave a room. These tips don’t cost a thing. Opposingly, they will save you money on your electric bill.

10) Donate

Rather than trashing items you no longer use, give them away to a donation center. What an easy way to give back to those in need while practicing recycling. This prevents pounds of trash from being thrown away per year. As the saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

Simple Resolutions:

In 2022, environmental awareness is trending. At last, it’s cool to care. Now is the time to hop on this bandwagon and turn over a new leaf in the New Year. Plus, it’s rewarding to set goals that are easily attainable. We’ve all made resolutions that were forgotten a month later because we just couldn’t keep up. Contrarily, sustainable New Year’s resolutions will motivate you one achievement at a time.
